A Lesson from the 2007 New Year Blizzards
John Havener January 4th, 2007
Like blasts from a double barreled shotgun, two back to back blizzards at the beginning of 2007 in Colorado and Kansas stranded motorists and livestock killing a number of folks and thousands of cattle. Among the problems in the aftermath of the storms was dwindling water supplies. Emergency management officials voiced concern for a real water cricis for some…
Water is the absolutely most fundamental need and the top priority for physical preparation.
A dear friend of mine had NO water laid up prior to hurricane Ivan which struck the Gulf Coast in 2004…not one gallon. His reasoning: ‘I have a generator (a good thing!) and it is hooked up to my pump. I just crank the generator, flip a switch, and presto…water!’ Problem: The storm mangled his power lines, making the whole set up unworkable and leaving him with NO WATER!
